| Mr.E.W.Hives, Experimental Engineer, Rolls-Royce,Ltd., Derby, England. Dear Mr.Hives: Re:Veedol. Have just had a very interesting talk with Mr.Waerner, of the Tide Water Oil Company, makers of Veedol. He tells me that they are now marketing this in England through the "British Mineral Oil Products Ltd", who are in contact with the Derby works. We have used and tested Veedol for some years. Originally we recommended [Handwritten: Special Heavy] "Extra Heavy" grade for Summer, and "Heavy" for Winter, but now recommend "Heavy" all the year round, having found that ordinary Summer temperatures do not make much difference to the running of the engine, thanks to the various points of our design. Both of the above oils are straight mineral, which has hitherto chiefly been used on the American market. [Handwritten: Special Heavy] The "Extra Heavy" has Viscosity of 65 sec. at 212º F.{Mr Friese} "Heavy" ------- 57 secs. at 212ºF.{Mr Friese} The use of [Handwritten: Forzol] "Fordol", designed for Fords, is now growing in this country and represents 50% of the business of the Tide Water Oil Company.
