10.33 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GR.{George Ratcliffe}10/JH.24.12.37. 24th December, 1937. The Zenith Carburettor Co.Ltd., Honeypot Lane, Stanmore, MIDDLESEX. For the attention of Mr.A.E.Palmer. Dear Sirs, 30 H.P.D.C.42. In reply to your letter of the 21st. ins. the writer wishes to state that the results of the bench tests show that it is out of the question with the existing design of manifold to place the carburettor at right angles. With regard to damaged chokes as a result of a backfire, the writer has a model roughed out that gives satisfaction in the initial stage of tests and would be pleased to show it your Mr. Fisher for comments at his convenience. With reference to the third paragraph in your letter may we in answer refer your goodself to the letter addressed to Mr. Turner dated 29th November which includes the complete list of modifications required on those 9 special carburettors as autorised and signed by Mr. Robotham. We repeat the list again and would add that a final decision on the operation of the choke has yet to be made. (1) E.61367 choke torsion spring replaces P.17068. (2) .113 floatchamber needle seating replaces .130". (3) .156 diameter main feed hole replaces .106". (4) Further accelerator pump piston replaces brass one. (5) Idle system modified to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}467. | ||
