COPY EH4/LG301018. 30th. Oct. 1918. The Lodge Sparking Plug Co.Ltd., X601 RUGBY. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. A.{Mr Adams} Lodge. K.E.3 Plugs with stabalite tubes in place of Mica Washers. Some of these have run for 40 hours. They are bad for pre-ignition in that respect they are like the standard K.E.3. The tubes shrink so that they turn round but they have not got any worse since last you saw them. K.E.5. These have been run on the standard production engines for 46 hours without any trouble. We then put them into an engine which was fairly oily. We had 12 failures owing to internal shorts caused most probably by oil. We also had 1 pre-ignite. We will send these plugs back to you so that you can examine them and find out what is the cause of them failing. R.11. These plugs have so far run for 56 hours. They are all in very good condition and we are continuing to run them. We have the same trouble with these as we have with KLG F-E-3 i.e. the gap gets wider during running. We are investigating to find what is the cause of this. K.R.4a. These plugs have run 8 hours in a fairly hot engine. They are so far working very well. Yours faithfully, | ||
