1332 DUNLOP RUBBER CO.,LTD. TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: "DUNLOP, PHONE, BIRMINGHAM" TELEPHONE: ERDINGTON 2121 (P.B.X) EXTENSION NO. 395. YOUR REF: OUR REF: HEP/BMT.104. FORT DUNLOP ERDINGTON BIRMINGHAM 24 Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. For the attention of G.H.Grylls, Esq. 8th July, 1938. Dear Sirs, With reference to the writer's call on the 4th, we confirm taking away two 6.50-17 Fort 'C' type covers removed from the rear of two experimental cars; cover No: 77112TJ having completed 4,649 miles and cover No: 99234HI, 3,599. As arranged, we are carrying out abrasion tests of the tread rubber and hope to let you have our report shortly. On the question of relative wear values of the special India 6.50-17 tyre and our own, we are going into this question and will endeavour to let you have some information in the next few days. We are also investigating the possibility of turning the shoulders of two worn India covers to provide the same relative width of tyre as on the new cover, and will let you have our ideas on the ellipse and land areas of worn tyres compared with new equipment, and the relation to cornering power. Yours faithfully, FOR THE DUNLOP RUBBER CO.LTD. Manager, Car Manfrs. Division. [Logo: 1888 1938 DUNLOP 50 YEARS OF GROWTH] | ||
