Dear Devereux,

I was interested in your conversation regarding the price of aluminium, during the weekend.

I am quite prepared to run a lot of aluminium pieces on our experimental cars with a view to proving their reliability so that if and when price permits it, we can use them without further development work.

The difficulty at the present moment, is, of course, getting such forgings. If we supply you with the dies can we get forgings from you ?

The other question I raised was, would you let us have some of this 6d. per lb. material so that we can make crankcases of it and see how it stands up.

The third point is, could you let me have the latest figures which you have been able to obtain with regard to the physical properties of your extruded tubes, forgings and castings.

When we have digested these figures Grylls and I would like to come down and have a look at the aluminium motor car drawings.

I would also like to have your latest figures on forged magnesium.

Yours sincerely,
