New Headlights.
Your Ref: Roy.{Sir Henry Royce}5/MG.14.10.36.

Mr. Neill called this morning with two sample headlights of the proposed new pattern.

They differed slightly, the principal difference so far as appearance is concerned being the treatment of the motif on top of the front rim.

It was explained to Mr. Neill that we preferred the more modern of the two treatments because it looked lighter.

To illustrate the final appearance of the complete lamp, he showed us a smaller lamp with sectioned reflector something like the reflector of the Marchal headlight and we agreed that this would look well.

Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} authorised Mr. Neill to proceed with the production of a pair of lamps for you to try out and it was mentioned that their reflectors must dip to the same extent as the reflectors of the P.100s we now receive. This was specially mentioned because it was noticed that in the one sample lamp fitted with the device the movement of the reflector was very slight.

Mr. Neill informed us that the sample lamps were on the Lucas stand at Olympia but hidden away and shown only to a few representatives of the Company including E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}
