BENTLEY 60 ENGINE IN WRAITH 111. CHASSIS - FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING, FAN AND BOTTOM WATER PIPE.

E.CD.1015 Front Engine Mounting, Fan and Bottom Water Pipe - Bentley 60 Engine in Wraith 111 chassis.

For the front engine support, the nose bearing details are existing as shown on E.CD.785, the sheet metal support legs and the brackets for fixing to chassis frame are new.

There is not sufficient room between the engine and radiator to enable us to use the B.60 fan shown on E.CD.462, so we have called for a 25/30 fan with hub and spindle adapted to the B.60 Fan pulley. It will be noticed that even with this fan the clearances with the radiator diagonals and the water suction pipe to pump are very small. As the inlet connection of the water pump is not in a very suitable position for coupling to the radiator outlet, we have been obliged to resort to a rather peculiar shaped bottom water pipe which will allow the required engine oscillation obtained with the high front engine mounting. The pipe shape shewn is principally to enable us to clip the upper part because we are afraid of the clearance with fan. With the final scheme and normal fan clearance, we shall produce a much simpler pipe shape.

Will you please make the essential new details for this mock-up and issue to the Experimental Department as soon as possible.
