THE EXISTING METHOD OF HOLDING THE FELT WASHER AGAINST THE PEDAL GAP PLATE BY A SPRING ALONG THE PEDAL STEM HAS BEEN FOUND TO BE UNSATISFACTORY & CAUSES RATTLES. THE REASON BEING THAT THE FREE LENGTH OF THE SPRING IS INSUFFICIENT TO MAINTAIN A GAS TIGHT JOINT DUE TO IT BEING LESS THAN THE TRAVEL OF THE PEDAL.
