To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. 1269 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.13/AP.5.8.37 Referring to your Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/R.4.8.37 enclosed herewith is a scheme Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}429 for a revised Ph.III. water pump. This pump should give more water flow than the standard pump, should give much better bearing and gland life and should be cheaper to manufacture. In view of the fact that we shall shortly have a water pump rig running for very long periods we think that a pump to the above scheme should be detailed and made fairly quickly so that we can get it on endurance on this rig. .Glands of the above type have been run on LPTB. oil and petrol fuses for the past six years without any breakage trouble.
