SPECTRECodename for Phantom III INTEGRAL AUTO LOCK DAMPERS
EX.17553 SCHEME.
To facilitate machining HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1921/2 sleeve and tube were substituted for Ex.17566/7/8 details, the determining relief and pressure areas being thus machined on the tube instead of in the bore of the sleeve.
After testing various combinations of pressure and relief grooves a system was evolved whereby the damping pressure for a given valve spring load was 75% in excess of the pressure required to lock the valve.
The attached graph illustrates this relationship, the tests being performed with the details at present fitted to 1S2 chassis.
