Dear Sir,

Replying to yours of yesterday with regard to the special tyres fitted to the wheels of the test car, it is intended eventually to mark an arrow on the sides of the tyres of this pattern showing the direction of rotation.

This it is intended should be in such a manner that when standing in front of the car and looking at the top of the tyre the point of the herring-bone depression will be forward. This means, as you will see, that the impression made on the ground is that the arrow is pointing in the opposite direction to which the car is moving. This will probably be clear to you by an examination of the rough sketch.

It is a matter of interest, however, to run some of the tyres one way and some the other, and if you can accept the arrangement at present upon the wheels we shall be glad.

Yours faithfully,
THE DUNLOP RUBBER CO. LTD.
W. Bond.
