To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} 4633 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/KW. 7.2.35. Lead Bronze Bearings for the Bentley. Confirming our discussion on this subject, we think that to increase the lead content of the bearings at this juncture would aggravate the existing tendency to etch under the acidity of the oil which was demonstrated in the last 5,000 miles of the recent test in France. If, on the other hand, centrifugally cast bearings are a commercial proposition for car work, these would seem to be an advantage. The set of bearings we require for the next 10,000 miles run are of course the thin shell type suitable for the narrow pin connecting rods. We shall be glad if you will put one or two sets of these in hand. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
