OIL FOR HYPOID AXLES.

We have been working in conjunction with Messrs. Wakefields' and Prices' in England and have got them to produce an alternative oil to the Whitmore's Compound.

Actually we believe the oil they are now supplying us with is better for the job than Whitmore's and there is not so much solid matter in it.

We have had one failure with an axle on Whitmore's which we think is due to the oil lining itself round the axle box.

Originally we got Messrs. Gleasons to try out Wakefield's Castrol "R" as an alternative to Whitmore's Compound. They very kindly did the test and sent us a complete report. We should now like Messrs. Gleasons to try out the Wakefield's Hypoid Compound.

Wakefield's have arranged to send ten gallons of this oil to their New York representative.

We should be very glad if you could get in touch with Messrs. Gleasons and ask them if they would give their opinion on this oil.

On this side we find that the price of Whitmore's oil is 10/- per gallon and the alternative is 1/6d.

I will send you the New York address of Wakefields!
