BENTLEY 111 and PHANTOM 111. BARREL TYPE TAPPETS. Herewith please receive E.CD.821 Modified Barrel Tappets - Bentley 111 and Phantom 111. In view of the recent failure of an early type Bentley 111 tappet with the push rod cup inside the bottom of barrel, by the cup breaking away from the tappet base, we agree that it is worth while reinforcing the new type of tappets with the push rod cup at the top of the tappet as called for on E.CD.635 for Phantom 111 and E.CD.795 for Bentley 111 and Wraith 111, and so reduce the risk of a similar type of failure on the new type tappets. We have therefore strengthened both the top and bottom diaphragms of the tappets as shown on E.CD.821. Will you please alter the details of the tappets to agree with this modification. No other details are affected. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
