Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. WST r6153 Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}10/MK.{R. E. B. Meade-King} 9.8.35. You have probably heard that the General Electric Co. of Magnet House, Kingsway, W. C. 2, have designed a car radio set and we understand they have already booked an order to instal a set on an R.R. car, although we have no knowledge of the chassis number concerned or by whom the order has been placed. When we learnt that there was a possibility of their having to fit a set to an R.R. car, we advised them of your instructions that there should in no circumstances be a condenser across the regulator contacts. In acknowledging our letter they say they would be grateful for any information we might give them which would prevent trouble or help make their set a success on an R.R. or Bentley car. We suggest that you should get into touch with them and give them any information which may help them. We ought to add perhaps that we understand the Marconiphone Co. are also about to launch a radio set for motor cars. We have as yet had no correspondence with them about the technical part of the job and if you think it desirable, you might like to communicate with them on the same lines as you write the G.E.C. Their home sets are, we believe, considered to be fairly good and it is quite probable that they will eventually be asked to equip R.R. and Bentley cars. Hn.{F. C.
