Further to yours of the 20th August we enclose herewith print No. 387051 showing an existing shear rubber coupling suitable for your conditions which will give you 3° torsional flexibility at your maximum torque of 5 lbs. ft. This coupling is normally rivetted to its driving or driven flanges and will fit in the space you have available. The strength is quite adequate for the conditions you state and we shall be glad to have your confirmation that this represents the maximum and that there is no torsional vibration present to increase the loads unduly. We suggest you try a few of these couplings and if, as we anticipate they give you the desired results we shall be pleased to discuss supplying either these, or if you prefer it a more convenient design to give the same results for your production requirements.
