PHANTOM III.

Will you please have hot spots modified to RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}295. in order to try and remove the restrictions to the gas flow.

Modification (1) on the sketch shews a cast iron hot spot with the top sliced off and a plate welded on with facings to suit the fitting of 2 - 25/30. Stromberg carburetters.

This can be carried out on the temporary hot spot which is now on No.14. unit for experiment.

Modification (2) shews the cutting out of the corners which we think are responsible for the restriction.

This consists of cutting the ends of the box upper portion out and welding pieces in. It would possibly be easier for you to carry this out on an alum. hot spot and use alum. welding.

We shall be until the 20th. carrying out water flows on No.14. and if in the meantime you could modify hot spots for us as described, then it would help us considerably.
