1293. TELEPHONE: BEVERLEY 321 GRAMS: ARMSTRONG'S SUSPENSION The Gordon Armstrong Patent Suspension COMPANY LIMITED OUR REF: GA.WC.4. YOUR REF: WALTHAM WORKS, OPPOSITE ST MARY'S CHURCH, BEVERLEY E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} YORKS GORDON ARMSTRONG A.M.I.A.E. F.INST.PAT. N. O.{Mr Oldham} TILL. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. 18th June, 1937. For Mr. Leslie's attention. Dear Mr. Leslie, I am enclosing you a sketch of an arrangement that will overcome the working pressure of the shock absorbers on the small pin that you state makes the control heavy when you are running it on the bumper test. You will see the idea; the pressure is taken to the top of the enlarged portion of the pin and leaked out from the bottom. In this sketch the central hole is shown, but in the case of your locking device the pressure would be taken up the outside of the bush and leaked out of a central hole in the pin. We are sending you a quotation tonight of £4/10/- per set of shock absorbers. This is a slight increase on the price I gave you in the first place but, as you will appreciate, the alteration in spindle sizes, locking device, phosphor bronze bushes and the increase of material, more than accounts for this alteration. Yours sincerely, p.p. THE GORDON ARMSTRONG PATENT SUSPENSION CO. LTD. Gordon Armstrong ENCL. | ||
