ORIGINAL. R9/M28.5.31. XJ350. [Struck through: BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer}] ) FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ) C. to [Struck through: SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}] C. to HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} FUTURE 25HP. BACK AXLE TUBES. I am not quite sure what BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} is doing to reduce the cost by simpler tubes nearer to size. I don't care who makes them, and naturally would prefer the better steel, but think if the section is corrected if there are any weak spots or dangerous places to get wrong in machining we ought to get our axle to stand in a good tube steel equal to the best motorcycle material and good heat treatment. We don't want Scott material. Our job is much easier than the banjo forging. R.{Sir Henry Royce} [Stamp]: RECEIVED 29 MAY 1931 | ||
