y 1st April 1911 Mr. Platford 31/3/11 R1/D1411 Referring to the lubrication of our engines, - as you know, I am in fav-our of more lubrication than we are at present getting. The actual fitting of the pistons should have very little to do with either the gas-holding properties of the cylinder or the lubrication. I should expect all these to be more influenced by the fitting of the rings. I am sorry in your note that you point out to me the features that I have already pointed out to you. I wish we could stop this habit amongst ourselves. I refer to the paragraph in which you state that in the case of the splash system the amount of oil supplied is somewhat proportional to the speed.
