HISPANO SUIZA. Y4214
Y446 extract

Yesterday we had a trial run on a new latest type Hispano Car. This was arranged by 'C' through Messrs.Barkers. We also tried a second-hand Hispano car which was supposed to be a 1923 model. As far as we could see, however, there was no difference in design between the new one and the second-hand one.

As regards engine performance, taking - silence, smoothness, flexibility, detonation and low speed torque into account - both cars gave a poor impression although the new car was better than the second-hand one.

The point however we were chiefly interested in, the brakes performed excellently on both cars.

The following are our impressions of the new Hispano which we drove ourselves :-

The operation of the brakes was delightful.

The degree of braking could be judged to a nicety with light pressures.

There was no feeling at any time that there was any relay system operating the brakes.

There was no feeling of springiness.

When one first drove the car - after being used to the usual brake pedal pressures - there was a tendency to apply the brakes too violently, but after a short time, this could easily be avoided.
