REPORT OF EXPERIMENTAL BENCH TESTS.
Two of the above magnetos were received at these Works on 3.2.21. A short preliminary report was sent under cover of our EFC2/T10.2.21. One of these magnetos has now been put through our experimental bench tests with the following results :-
Magneto No. 311941.
1. Weight - 10.25 lbs.
2. For remarks re mechanical and electrical design see preliminary report. We have already sent to Mr. Royce a similar machine to the one which has been through the experimental bench tests loosely assembled to enable him to examine this.
3. Radial air gap - .003" between sleeve and armature, and .001" approx. between sleeve and main pole.
4. High tension safety gap - 7.6 mm.
5. The jump spark distributor dimensions are according to sketch herewith :-
1.026"
.255"
.270"
Overlap X at advance = .10"
" " retard = contd.
