Difficulties and recommendations for altering shock absorber loads.

With reference to CWB15/GM2.12.27. The loads which we require altering on these shock absorbers are the low pressure side which are approximately doubled.
To alter these loads it is necessary to dismantle the shock absorber completely as the valves are in the piston. Even then it is practically impossible to guarantee that the spring will give the required load and we have a number of testing pieces which are utilised at the Works to compensate for production limits.
We therefore recommend that you send the shock absorbers in question to Derby for modification or, alternatively, procure 4 shock absorbers of the latest type from Derby and return those fitted at present to be modified and retain.
