45840a Expl: Dept: Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby Angleterre. 12th. April 1936. Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, France. Mr. Hancock from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 10-G-111. We are going into the question of the rear springs on that car. We think it is probable that we shall recommend that you fit stiffer springs to the rear. You might just check and see that the rear shock absorbers are giving the correct load. With reference to the oil pump. It is possible that the new pump may be less efficient. We ought to have tested it before it left Derby. If it is less efficient, we should say it is the holes we have drilled through the bottom of the teeth to lubricate the end bearings. You could temporarily try stopping up all the holes - if this made any difference, it may be possible to run with one hole only open. We should be very interested to have your complete explanation of the battery box failure. This is most important. As regards the speed of the car. We should like you to check the speed against the stop watch. We assume that you are not running with any ballast in the back of the car. If you are, we should certainly recommend that you take the ballast out. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
