With reference to the note re studded tyres
Mr Royce remarks! 2.9.12.

Mr Wormald has asked me to send you the following report from Mr Kirby, written from the Bombay depot, concerning steel studded tyres:-
"Steel studded tyres are not suitable. Tyres get very hot in the hot weather."

Some of our own experimental cars should be run with plain tyres & non skid half on tarred roads, car is much sweeter and faster and more economical on plain tyres, the Palmer pattern of grooved tread and as used by Continental company seem a good scheme as we cannot get Dunlop to do likewise they would at least be excellent for front wheels.
