With reference to Mr. Hives memo,Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG10.10.22, on receipt of this memo we telephoned to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and as a result of the conversation with him, fixed up that the four Trials Cars to be used at Olympia should have 13 tooth axles, although two of them are to be used with open bodies.

This of course means that we have robbed two 13 tooth axles from cars which should have axles of this ratio fitted, i.e. closed cars. These two cars will therefore have to be fitted temporarily with 14 tooth axles.

We have now heard from Sales Department that they will probably require 13 tooth axles on the whole of the first 20 Goshawks. We in turn have pointed out to them that we shall probably be unable to do this, as we have only 12 - 13 tooth axles and 8 - 14 tooth axles available, and they will have to make the best of these axles on the first 20 cars until further quiet 13 tooth axles are available.

We are sending this memo so that you may, when instructing further axles, bear in mind that there seems to be a general tendency to use 13 tooth axles on all trials and demonstration cars and that this must be allowed for in addition to having sufficient 13 tooth axles for all production cars other than those which are fitted with light open bodies.
