Arising out of our attempt to develop the use of Magnesium in place of R.R.Metal, with a view to saving weight, etc., Mr. Devereux has personally investigated this matter as far as the Bentley Bottom Half Crankcase is concerned, and now writes as copy attached.

You will recollect we could not release our own patterns for production of this Bentley Bottom Half Crankcase, and High Duty Alloys suggested they should put patterns in hand, a a cost approximating £50. 0. 0d, should we proceed with the matter.

In view of Mr. Devereux's further investigation, possibly it would be wise, as far as this particular Crankcase is concerned, to postpone matters, and concentrate our efforts on reducing the thickness of our own R.R.Casting.
