PHANTOM BRAKES.

We have obtained the following particulars of the braking system.

(1) Load required to pull the front brakes on at end of lever on axle. N.S. 17 lbs. C.S. 19 lbs.

(2) Load required to pull the brakes shoes only = 6 lbs. Taken at end of lever of brake toggle shaft.

(3) Load required to pull the rear brakes taken at countershaft lever = C.S. 12 lbs. N.S. 13 lbs.

(4) Load required on foot pedal to operate servo to bring brakes in operation is 11 lbs. With a slight stickiness of the cams this load was increased to 15 lbs. (Initial).

(5) Load on foot pedal to bring rear brakes in operation combined with operation of servo dogs (stationary) is 25 lbs.

(6) Pressure required to depress Foot Brake Pedal only 3 - 5 lbs.
