DETONATION. X4550 The "take off" performance of our supercharged engines is limited by the extent of audible detonation. We know we can considerably reduce this and in some cases completely eliminate it by richening up the mixture. Bristols do this to the extent of .7 pts/BHP/HR. just for "take off". Our full supercharger engine is considerably worse for "take off" than the moderate and even worse than the unsupercharged engine. The low "take off" power and the large restoration at altitude makes it difficult from the airscrew point of view. We think it would be to our advantage to carry out some tests in this direction. This could easily be included in our normal F engine development contract. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lov.{Mr Lovesey} | ||
