-2- (4) Engine Smoothness. As we stiffen the crankshaft we are definitely finding that we need a larger crankshaft damper. We think we need about 50% more inertia, and the radius of the fabrics extending to keep their unit loading as at present with a 50% increase in damping. We think that this is a job which ought to receive attention, as we are going to live with the Bentley engine for a long time yet. (5) The petrol tank with the lighter gauge seems to be standing up. (6) The lighter exhaust system has failed owing to the downtake pipe being lagged and being in mild steel. We are sending out a Staybrite pipe.
