(5) 40/50 CHASSIS CLEARANCES X.4302.

Boxes and wheels carried in wells on the running boards should not project through the latter more than 2½" below the under-side of the board, that is to say, they must have 2" more ground clearance than the engine flywheel guard, which is 10" above the ground. This is given in the coach-work memoranda, third edition 1920, page 14, item 31.
