Re :- Ignition Coil.

With reference to your telephone conversation pointing out that the Ignition Coil had 20,000 turns on the Secondary instead of 21,000 which is mentioned in the Standardisation Sheet; the explanation is simply that we have not instructed any such Coil with 21,000 turns.

We instructed two Coils to be made with the finer gauge wire and the standard number of coils, i.e. 18,000. These proved to be no better and we then instructed two more Coils to be made with finer gauge wire, but increased to 20,000 turns, and this is the Coil which we understand is standardised and we have duly instructed the Works.

I was not aware that the figure 21,000 turns had been mentioned until your 'phone conversation. I have, however, now discovered that it is on your instructions that two further Coils were made with 21,000 turns and we did not have a copy of that memo and, therefore, knew nothing about it. May we point out that in order to get smooth working between the departments we must know what is being done to avoid this kind of error.

We are further informed that with the 21,000 turn Coil it has been necessary to make a longer leakage path to allow for the extra energy, and this again is not called for on the drawing.

Please let us have a copy of your instructions so that we may endeavour to put this matter in order.
