Run through Minutes of last meeting Nos:1. 11. 12. 13. 16. 17. 18A. Previous item No.1. referred to is:- What has happened to standardization sheet for less expensive bonnet fastener ? Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} reported that he had produced a design for a simplified fastener which whilst retaining the virtues of R's original design should, in his opinion, be con- siderably less expensive to produce. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} said keep this on Agenda. Previous item No.11. referred to is:- Steering generally. He reported that he has now fitted the Cadillac type steering to an experimental car for trial and results will be reported in due course. He. said that he was in touch with the British makers of similar steering gears. He. said he would like to have 50-GH to fit a Marles-Weller steering gear and other parts so that Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} can try them on his own car. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} agreed to this if He. could fix him up with a car to use in the meantime. He. said they had a car they would like Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} to try as it was fitted with silent second, air silencer, and other features. He. will get in touch with Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} when he is ready to change cars. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} said keep on agenda. Previous item No.12 referred to is:- Quieter Second Gear position. He. reported that the experimental silent second speed is now fitted to a car, and on trial. The third Peregrine chassis will also have a silent second gear. Previous item No.13 referred to is:- Position re increased braking on front wheels. He. said standardization sheets have been issued. He also said that a lot of progress had been made on braking problems recently. Increased width of drums is now being requested. The ribbed drums of cast material are a great improvement and should stand up to 10,000 miles hard work without any attention or adjustment. | ||
