Y4-53 To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from K.{Mr Kilner} K.16/HP. 16.2.33. c. for. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hvs re Bensport Car. ---------------- Referring to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}19/E.10.2.33. we are in agreement with Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}'s remarks regarding the difficulty and complication of having a spare coil wired up with a suitable changeover switch. Additionally this would be going beyond anything we do today inproviding for changing over the ignition. On the 20/25 it is necessary to mechanically couple up the magneto on the exhaust side of the car and then on the opposite side to change over the high tension contacts and to undo the distribution box and change over the fuse before the magneto ignition can be brought into/action. Some of our 20/25 owners are entirely unaware that there is a standby ignition available. Our own experience is that coil ignition generally has been made extraordinarily reliable. The modification we would suggest is that the coil mounting and connections be so arranged that the coil can be changed with the maximum facility without if possible the use of any tools.
