SUGGESTED PROCEDURE TO ADOPT
IN TRACING IGNITION TROUBLES ON CUSTOMERS CHASSIS.

Before removing any units proceed as follows :-

(a) In the case of the 20/25, test the high tension wiring and distributor by connecting up the magneto, this will show whether the plugs, wiring, distributor and rotor are faulty or not.

(b) If O.K. examine ignition fuse and main fuse. If blown replace and switch on ignition. Should the fuse blow again a short circuit in the wiring is indicated not in the coil or condenser.

(c) If the fuse are O.K. switch on ignition and test whether the battery voltage can be read on a voltmeter connected from the ballast or coil terminals to earth. If the volts can be read at the ballast terminals and not at the coil, short circuit the ballast and try again at the coil which will indicate whether the ballast is faulty.

(d) If O.K., clean and readjust the distributor contact points and test ignition again noting that the ammeter reads the current.

(e) If ignition is still faulty, the units can now be replaced singly such as ballast, coil or condenser.
