Bentley Road Tools.

On chassis B.23-AE streamlined Bentley we arranged for Messrs. Park Ward & Co. to fit up the road tools under the bonnet in the position shown on the RR. scheme which was sent to us.

We could not follow the scheme exactly as the mallet in the position drawn fouled the engine foot.

We have stood this mallet up on its end spiggotting on a pip on the undersheet and clipping it at the handle by a clip attached to the top flange of the frame.

We believe that the Test Department in London has experienced some difficulty on RR. cars when the road tools have been placed on the nearside in the vicinity of the exhaust pipe. It was considered that on some occasions they became too hot to handle.

We can see that this might not apply to the Bentley which always has a louvred bonnet.

We should be glad if Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} would tell us whether this objection is a real one or not.

We suggest that Derby will wish to examine this car with a view to designing the clips and attachments for the tools similar to those provided by Messrs. Park Ward & Co. with a view to supplying the tools mounted in this position as standard on the Bentley chassis.
