Telephone: BURBAGE 321-2-3-4. W.A. Robotham, Esq., Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd., BELPER. Dear Robotham, Torque Converter. Both Mr. Miller and I were very interested in our discussion on the above subject. We shall be very pleased to put through an extra 2 speed Gear on the lines of the one we are making in the Humber Scout, but you will I know realise that this does not represent the last word and its size is entirely governed by the consideration of full torque in reverse which imposes the brake band diameter and the cylinder size, and we thought it wise to make the same size brake band for the forward gear. The drawings are almost complete, and as soon as they are, we will get some installation drawings for you to consider. As I told you, I shall be seeing Moore on Monday and will discuss the whole matter with him, and as you know we are very interested in this development and believe that there is very considerable scope with regard to the auxiliary gearing as by different methods of treating the gear arrangement, believe that the characteristics of the torque converter can be influenced to give the desired results. This is a matter which we are studying very closely, and I would like to keep in touch with you on this subject. Yours sincerely, [Signature] | ||
