R to Worthy. By rivets ruffly essential? Alum or Cu or Al will probably wear itself clear. Tests to decide if of rigidity. Anxious to avoid unnecessary wt, R of T observations ref N.S. brake does not tally with Hy{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}'s. ? 'Wild' distribution of smaller rivets. Try 2 stiffening ribs (as per sketch). I think we are quite within sight of making this brake into an exceedingly good one. A feeling we shd be perfectly safe to go on ahead with the drums for 3" wide Ferodo & the cooling ribs as arranged. also I agree, go ahead with Ferodo lining remaining. The best form & material of the shoe seems only a doubtful point. Whether rivets be large or small, copper or alum would not affect the material or machining but only the drilling of the shoe, which I hope will soon be settled.
