We have just turned up your note Ps3/RJ4.10.29., referring to chassis 56-WR. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Mills.

We think this is clearly a case of loss of water owing to excessive Sodium Phosphate being used in the water system.

A note has now been circulated to all Depots with reference to this trouble, but this appears to be a case where the car would have been alright had pure water been used in the system.

It occurs to us that some of the cylinder head tube trouble that you have been experiencing on this car may have been due to the fact that it has been definitely run short of water and consequently the over-heated tube being exposed to an atmosphere of steam may have oxodised excessively.

It would appear that in the case of all cars which have had radiator trouble these tubes should be suspected.
