Dear Mr. Robotham,

Many thanks for your letter of the 3rd instant. I am interested to hear of the further results you have obtained in connection with bearing metals, and I can confirm that we have now heard from Mr. Devereux on the subject of your particular specification.

With regard to cast crankshafts, we have had some considerable experience in casting various types and testing in service, and the results we have so far obtained show that cast crankshafts can be reasonably reliable in petrol engines but up to now we have had no satisfaction when fitted in Diesel engines.

The whole subject is rather an involved one, and I feel that from your own point of view it would be more satisfactory to go into the details when you pay us a visit. Unless I hear from you to the effect that you would prefer something more definite in writing I will leave the matter over until next I see you.

Yours sincerely,
