We have examined the driven plate removed from the above Phantom III.

Mr. Reid reports that the facings appear to have stuck to the flywheel or pressure plate, and that there are cracks in the facings.

The plate does not appear to show any definite evidence of having been oily, which is the first thing which suggests itself, especially with Thermoid, which contains rubber and is particularly sensitive to oil.

With regard to the slight cracks running between some of the rivets, we suggest you advise Mr. Reid that these cracks are a peculiarity of Thermoid and can often be seen in a quite new facing, and we have not a single record of failure resulting from them.

We can only suggest re facing the plate to policy
