MICRO-EXAMINATION REPORT. X4469. M662. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 21.6.29. RE. NITRIDED STEEL. The two small steel bushes submitted have been tested for hardness and depth of case, as requested. The case is extremely hard, and although it is not possible to obtain a Rockwell figure, it may be taken that the hardness is much greater than that of a normal carburised steel. The depth of the case as measured on a fractured part is 0.013". This is the result of eight hours treatment in the nitriding furnace. Hl. He. | ||
