4-YG CAR. X8440

The above car was sent to Derby as an example of a well-sprung car.

We have carried out a number of tests comparing the suspension of this car with other experimental cars. We were able to appreciate that this particular springing somewhat mitigates the unpleasant behaviour of 40/50 HP. suspension when driving over wavy roads at speed between 20 and 30 m.p.h. Investigations shew that if anything this car is sprung somewhat more stiffly than it would be according to our present practice.

We are conducting a series of experiments with a view to ascertaining how the particular idiosyncrasies of any customer can be catered for when initially specifying spring poundages, and what further alterations can be effected by attention to the setting of the shock dampers.

In addition the whole question of the suspension is at present receiving serious attention with a view to further improvement with regard to the complaints recently received.
