To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} ORIGINAL Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}/LG23.11.28. c.c. to B.J. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c.c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c.c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} 'SS{S. Smith}' STARTER MOTOR. (9-EX CAR). X76258 We have been able to stop the thump upon engaging, by fitting a leather cap inside the armature shaft. This we believe acts as an air cushion and reduces the velocity of the torque pull of the armature. The sketch shews how this has been applied. We have asked BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} for an air dash pot to be designed which should prevent the thump both ways. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/G.W.Hancock. | ||
