-2- E/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}3/BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}19.3.37. out a number of experimental modifications to the design on the recommendation of the Expl. Dept. In particular the steam valve has been deleted and the filler placed on the water inlet which itself is a casting passing right through the top tank and a copy of the Cadillac. The top tank is a brass pressing similar to that now in use and a baffle is provided to prevent spilling. We show two alternative designs of filler cap, the one with the internal thread in the filler being the cheaper, but we have some doubt as to whether the appearance will be good enough, and whether the washer will stay in position on the screw thread. The cap should be dull nickel plated. A dummy filler cap is placed on the radiator and this has to retain the detachable cap in order that mascots may be fitted by the customer without dismantling the radiator shell. The water outlet from the cylinder head has been modified in order that it may line up with the inlet to the radiator and give an easy curve to the hose pipe. The question of filling level has been considered and it will be noticed that the correct water level is such that water just appears inside the base of the filler, and rises up when almost boiling to about 1" above the base. Suitable information to this effect would be incorporated in the Instruction Book. Except for the fixing of the radiator, the headlamp tubes, lamp fixings, horn fixings and wing stay attachment remain unaltered from those already instructed.
