Dr. (crossed out) C. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 1113 DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}7/G.13.6.38. GBY (handwritten) F-D (handwritten) BENTLEY - CHANGE SPEED LEVER. Referring to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}1/N.28.5.38. we have prepared G.CD.721 shewing the positions of the gear change lever relative to the seats on Bentley 11, Bentley lll, Bentley 5o and Wraith. We have also shewn the B.11 lever proposed in the above memo by Paris and also the special gear lever now fitted to the first B.lll car. It will be seen that the new Bentley Levers are already very much better than the present standard Bentley, and better than the 2" shorter lever on Bentley 11 proposed by Paris. It therefore only remains, it seems to us, to decide whether we will have the position of B.50, B.lll lever knob shewn on black or the experimental B.lll lever knob shewn in red, as the final position for B.lll and B.50. We understand that no complaints have as yet been made as to difficulty of changing on the 1st. B.lll. The first B.50 will have the B.50, B.lll knob shewn in black and perhaps we shall be able to judge from that. BA. | ||
