Clutch and Brake Pedals.

Phantom III.

We find that owing to the use of matting over the whole of the sloping floorboard there is a loss of pedal travel of about 1/2", as with our designs no matting is allowed for under the pedals.

As it is necessary to have all the pedal travel that is available, allowance should be made for the matting by lengthening the pedal stems.

The existing stems have four slots at 5/8" intervals, and it is merely necessary to lengthen the stems by one slot which should be a sufficient amount to ensure that the downward movement is always stopped by the stop on the crankcase.

This can be tried immediately on experimental cars.

As regards production, if one notch of adjustment is sacrificed, pedal stems already made can be used in the same way, but in this case the slot which was previously used should be filled in in some way. One suggestion is to fill in the slot with solder or with a piece of metal soldered in, but in no case should a hole be drilled in the stem for any kind of fixing device.

Pedal stems not yet made should be instructed 5/8" longer.

This modification is regarded as important and all cars should be dealt with.

The modified gas seal on the pedal stems to M.Sch.4790 should also be fitted to all cars.
