To CJ. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Cd to R.{Sir Henry Royce} X.766 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LGS. 5.25. OVER-HEATING. We are sorry that you should think that there has been any attempt for the Experimental Dept. to belittle the troubles of over-heating. All we have endeavoured to do is to put forward facts obtained from the results of tests and records of previous tests. Our point in stating that boiling was a seasonable complaint was to make it clear that it was the summer season in Australia when the difficulty of over-heating was being experienced on the 4-wheel brake cars. In spite of the recent report from Australia [strikethrough]of over-heating[/strikethrough] that they have experienced no difficulty of over-heating from previous 40/50 HP. cars, we have a record of a report from Pt. dated 18th.Mar. 1916 which states :- "Complaints about over-heating are becoming unpleasantly common out here. I should like to hear whether you have any suggestions to make as regards the treatment of such cases". It will be noted that this complaint occurs at approximately the same time of [strikethrough]every[/strikethrough] year. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
