To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} V8250 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rml/LG12.3.25. LOSS OF WATER FROM 'EAC' RADIATORS. We carried out investigations on an EAC. engine running at 2750 r.p.m. partial load on the dynamometer to see if we could ascertain whether all engines were likely to throw water out by way of the steam pipes in the same manner as has been reported from France. The level of the water of the radiator was half way up the top water pipe. The engine was then run at 2750 r.p.m. partial load with the radiator cap off. It was observed that owing to the passage of the water in the top of the radiator being unrestricted, a certain amount of water was splashed up, and had the cap been on, it would have been forced to pass out by means of the steam pipes. The quantity of water was not very large, and it appears that it will be perfectly easy to overcome this loss of water by modifying the pipe by means of which water is delivered to the top water chamber of the radiator.
