RE WIRE WHEEL HUBS - 40/50s and others. X.3580 EY2/P9.12.21. Unless U.S.A. can shew that we are neglecting their complaint it is natural that instructions should pass through us to Dunlops and others. As regards housing being loose; since the design has been unaltered for 10 years it sounds unreasonable that it should go wrong, however, things will always bear modifications. I quite agree that unless the hub is made from a sheet metal or projectile forging the housing might be left in the solid. If, however, it is made from a drawn or tube-like forging there is no reason why the housing should not be put in tightly by hydraulic pressure with selective assembly. To get these together tightly seems child-play with good appliances under factory conditions, and there is no excuse for failure. If the security pins are a definite insurance against failure I do not think they should be cancelled without giving a reason to me. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
